Infineon Technologies has issued a formal notice announcing price increases for selected products, effective April 1st. The new pricing will apply uniformly to all new orders and deferred shipments, with no grace period offered.
The company cites multiple converging pressures necessitating the move. A primary driver is the surging demand from AI data centers, which is creating a supply shortage for power switches and related ICs. Additionally, rising costs for raw materials, infrastructure, and capacity expansion can no longer be absorbed internally.
The price adjustments will primarily affect power switches and related ICs, with increases generally ranging from 5% to 15%. Notably, higher premiums are expected for SiC products, automotive-grade components, and high-voltage modules.
ICgoodFind: As an industry leader, Infineon's price hike will likely trigger a ripple effect across the supply chain. End-market manufacturers are advised to evaluate their inventory and sourcing strategies to mitigate rising cost pressures.
